If you have spent any time on Google in the last few months, you might have noticed something: A website called Reddit is coming up time and time again for searches. And this fact is especially true for wedding vendors.
Reddit is an often-overlooked goldmine for wedding vendors, and it’s become one of the most important tools in the marketing world today. Whether you’re a photographer, planner, or other vendor, Reddit can be a powerful tool to help your business grow. As someone who has been on Reddit for over 13 years, I can confidently say that it was my secret sauce for content inspiration and marketing growth. In fact, I used Reddit to help build my own wedding business back in 2014!

Couples love Reddit because it offers authentic, unfiltered advice from real people. It’s anonymous-ish, meaning users feel more comfortable sharing honest opinions. You can find candid answers to all sorts of questions that aren’t always addressed on polished Instagram feeds or curated wedding websites. The transparency on Reddit is what draws couples, and it’s a platform where they can ask tough questions without judgment. For example:
“How much did you really spend on your wedding?”
“What happens if your photographer ghosts you after the wedding?”
“Venues in Miami, $300k budget?”
If you haven’t noticed, Reddit results are dominating Google searches. Google has been surfacing Reddit threads more and more, especially when people search for specific, niche questions. Why? There are three big reasons:
One: User Searches Have Evolved
The way people search has drastically changed, and it’s affecting the wedding industry too. Couples are no longer just Googling their questions. They’re intentionally adding “Reddit” to their search. This has become a common habit, especially among Gen Z and Millennials, who trust the unfiltered, honest feedback Reddit provides. I’ve been doing this for years, and it’s no surprise that Google has caught on. Now, Reddit threads are surfacing in search results, even if you don’t explicitly search for “Reddit.”
Two: EEAT
Reddit’s increasing visibility on Google is no accident. It’s tied directly to Google’s evolving focus on E-E-A-T—Expertise, Experience, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. These factors have become crucial in determining which content ranks highest in search results, and Reddit posts check all the boxes.
Expertise: Reddit threads often contain detailed, nuanced answers that come from multiple contributors, making the information more valuable and comprehensive.
Experience: Reddit’s real-time discussions provide fresh, up-to-date content, which is exactly what Google’s algorithm prioritizes. Wedding trends, vendor recommendations, or advice on wedding planning processes change quickly, and Reddit captures that shift in a way that traditional blogs don’t.
Authoritativeness: With detailed responses and input from multiple sources, Reddit has become a trusted place for authoritative content. Google sees this user-generated content as valuable because it dives deep into questions and often provides expert advice or personal experience, aligning well with Google’s emphasis on longer, in-depth content.
Trust: In an age dominated by AI and curated influencer content, user-generated content is more important than ever. Couples trust the opinions of real people who have lived through the wedding planning process.
Three: Google AI
In early 2024, Google signed a $60M/year deal with Reddit to access its content directly and use it to train AI and improve search. This means Reddit posts are now being indexed better, faster, and more deeply than before, and featured more prominently in search results. Currently, Google is the only major search engine able to display recent Reddit results when users search with “site:reddit.com.” (and not other sites like Bing) [source]
Using Reddit as a vendor requires strategy. It’s a platform where users are wary of being “sold to,” so you must approach it with care. Here’s how:
Add a Vendor Flair: Many wedding-related subreddits (like r/weddingplanning) allow vendors to add a flair to their profile, signaling that they are a professional. This lets couples know you’re a vendor, but it’s important to keep it subtle.
Focus on Helping, Not Selling: Offer real advice and valuable insights based on your experience. Be a resource! When you answer a question, make sure your response is clear and helpful. Avoid dropping your Instagram handle or website unless someone specifically asks for it. And don’t DM people selling your services! That is a quick way to get kicked out of subreddits.
Reddit isn’t about instant sales. In fact, it’s not really even about sales at all. It’s about building trust and positioning yourself as an authority in your niche. It’s a long-term strategy. By providing helpful, thoughtful answers to questions, you’ll naturally build relationships with potential clients, who may come back to you when they’re ready to book.
Reddit is a goldmine of content ideas! See what questions your potential clients are asking, and use them to fuel your blog posts, social media content, or even your sales funnels. By checking out wedding-related subreddits (like r/weddingplanning, r/weddingphotography, or r/BigBudgetBrides), you can see what questions are being asked right now. And answer those in IG posts, Reels and blogs.
